Strawberries are just in time for Christmas and they have been very good! We are harvesting a few of ours but the bulk of our crop hasn't hit just yet. Mainly because we plant bare root strawberry plants and they take a little longer to get going but they produce over a longer period versus plug plants. Plug plants are delivered at a much more mature stage and they will usually start producing at least 3-4 weeks before the bare root plants. Either way the berries are sweet, juicy, and bright red right now! I hope everyone has a great Christmas and gets to share their produce box with family and friends.

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
