Romanesco is here! Or as my kids call it "Christmas Trees" and they absolutely love it, as do my wife and I. I cooked some last night and just lightly tossed in olive oil, salt, pepper and then a few drops of balsamic vinegar and roasted at 400 degrees, talk about yum! We finally have some more broccoli coming in as well. This weather has got us hustling with getting crops covered and uncovered and then back covered again, that's Louisiana for you though. Our fields are starting to dry out enough to get into so I am headed to cultivate carrots in hopes to get some growth out of them while the sun is shining!

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
