Week 1 of 20; Summer 2019 Vegetable Share-Coopers CSA Farm Happenings

Posted on May 31st, 2019 by Coopers CSA Farm

Hello Everone!

Exciting stuff happening as we approach our first week of the summer.

For those who are new & just a reminder to our veterans,

  • make sure you have your preferences set for each item we offer. This is how your vegetable box is made.
  • When you receive you email about the items in your box, you have 2-3 days to make swaps of items.
  • Home Delivery members- keep a cooler & icepacks out so your items stay cool in the summer heat!
  • Extras section- We have a large extras section, this is how you can purchase jams, pre-made meals, ground meat, soup etc. with out having to come to our store.
  • If you need help with the HARVIE platform, reschedule a box due to vacation, not being able to swap etc. Send an email to harvie support, they are very fast and great at helping. All other questions you can email us here at the farm.

Now the Farm happenings from now on will consist of updates of whats been going on at the farm the previous week.

New Happenings:

  • Great Fields: We boast about how we use our pasture raised chickens to fertilize our fields, A LOT. Well this year we have planted our entire market garden section (the vegetables that come in your box) on the pasture where the chickens were the last two years. We are very happy with what is happening, the soil is in great shape but what we are really impressed with is that the digging and rooting the chickens did to the soil, drastically decreased the bug and weed population.
    • This means we don't have to treat the fields as much as before ! We love sustainable agriculture.
    • We will write a blog that will be more in depth on this topic.
  • Slow Start: We have not had much sun so the vegetables are growing very slowly... but they are still growing well!
  • Helping Hand: Since we've had a tough start to the season, we have asked our farming neighbors if we can use some of their produce to make sure you all have lots of produce options for your boxes. The farming community is small and its great that we all help each other out when we need it!
  • Maple Syrup: A few times through out the summer we will be offering a jar of maple syrup as one of your items in your box! Keep and eye out so you don't miss this sweet item.
  • Loyalty Card: In person shopping reward program. If you visit our farm store, farmers markets, or corn stand quite often, we now have a loyalty card program where you can earn some free vegetables! *Shopping on our online extra section is NOT accepted.
  • CHICKEN SALE: We will be having a big chicken sale in our extras section this week. We will be selling our older stock. Don't be fooled by the word "Older", they are still very tasty, safe & good for eating.
