Week 7 July 24-29 Farm Happenings - BEEF SHARE

Posted on July 21st, 2018 by Coopers CSA Farm

Hi Folks

It's time to set up your second beef share of the season.

If you are not sure on what some of the cuts are a quick google search of the name of the cut is the easiest way to find out. If you are stuck for ideas on how to cook it, email Lisa and I directly, we'll help you out.

Everyone around here loves working with the cattle, including Kelsey in the picture. I guess we all have a little inner rancher in us. However that love of cattle was certainly tested last Wednesday night around mid night as the cattle managed to break out and were on the front lawn of my mom and dads farm. Nothing better than herding cattle by moonlight I guess. Then we had to figure out where they got out. Gates were closed, fences were up and tight, all electric fence was working perfectly. A head scratcher for sure. The next morning i spent 2 hours as a combination of tracker and detective trying to figure out where on 50 acres of range they may have gotten out. Turns out it was  a spot near the barn where they get water that they opened up and made a small gap. A 10 minute fix and all good again.

If you have red bags from last month leave them out or bring them back, we use them again.

Thanks

Steve
