Farm Happenings for January 15, 2019

Posted on January 9th, 2019 by Lisa Merva

Welcome to the first week of our 2019 Winter CSA! This season your share will be filled with produce from our six member farms, and you'll have the opportunity to purchase other wonderful locally produced goods such as eggs, butter, jams, tinctures and more! Please note that our website is still being updated, and will soon have lots of information about these products. In the meantime, please check out the producers' websites for more information-- you can find a link to them on our website.

The "customization period" for your share will end at noon on Thursday, so please be sure to make any changes before that time. We are running a little late today, but in the future you can expect to get this email on Wednesday morning.

We know that CSA members love to know what’s happening on the farm, so we’ll include little updates in our newsletter. For our first share of the season, we’re hearing from Jacqui Coburn of Front Field Farm in Winterville.

“2019 is going to be a year of growing...in all directions!  We are sad to see our farm neighbor, Full Moon Farm, close down their operation across the street from us.  However, this brings exciting growth opportunities for both Full Moon and Front Field Farm.  I will let Iwa and Mike tell you about their adventures lined up for this year [coming soon!].  We at Front Field Farm have decided to expand our operation by including the Full Moon Farm land.  We are drawing up plans right now to increase our flower production like crazy and we are growing our team on the farm by welcoming back a former employee to help us run that part of the operation.    Before any of those flowers bloom though, we will be busy harvesting the winter greens and roots for you in the CSA. Here's hoping 2019 is a wee bit drier than its predecessor!”
