Here comes some local goodness!

Posted on June 3rd, 2020 by Lisa Merva

This is just your confirmation email for this week-- we have received your produce and look forward to seeing you today or tomorrow.

Summer is starting to show up!  Tomatoes are juuuuust starting to trickle in. The first few weeks of tomato season, we won't have enough for everyone, but soon we'll be swimming in tomatoes... but I know it's hard to be patient.

The summer squash is booming so let's get excited about that! Not only is it the key ingredient in that ubiquitous southern casserole, but it's chock full of vitamins and minerals. The World Health Organization calls squash one of the world's healthiest foods, mainly because of its high mineral content-- it's a valuable source of copper, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, and iron. Wow!

New Producer Alert

This week we are adding a new farm to the mix-- Forward Thinking Farm. Located in Watkinsville, FTF raises humanely treated, pasture-raised poultry at their small family farm. The birds are moved daily to new pasture to get all the grass, insects, fresh air, and sunlight they want. They suggest you try their whole birds roasted, grilled, spatchcocked and more! You can find more information on Facebook @forwardthinkingfarm

Without further ado... let's eat!
