Time to customize your share for the week of May 4!

Posted on April 29th, 2020 by Lisa Merva

Welcome to Week 4 of our Spring/Summer CSA!

There's so much to choose from this week! For the fruit-lovers, we are still rolling in local strawberries, and we have blueberries from our friends in south Georgia as well. Spring greens are still abundant so fill yourself up on them while they're still here-- once the heat comes, local greens will be just a memory. To round out the offerings, we are bringing some Vidalia onions and sweet potatoes from south Georgia.

As you are customizing your share, a box may pop up below your selected items letting you know that you have room in your share to add more produce. This is a newer Harvie feature, and I don't want you to miss out!

Artisan Spotlight - Figment Kombucha... Who's ready for a cocktail?

The folks at Figment are creating high quality fermented foods and drinks right here in Athens with a focus on local, seasonal ingredients from Georgia family farms. Their kombuchas and krauts are unique and flavorful, and this week we are offering a special on their delicious shrubs! A shrub is a sweet/sour balanced flavor concentrate, made for adding to cocktails, mocktails or just plain carbonated water!

This week we are offering a one-time special deal on extra large bottles of Chile/Peach/Lime Shrub mix and Raspberry/Meyer Lemon Shrub mix. Time to sit out on the deck and sip a delicious cocktail (or mocktail)! Here are some recipes from Figment:

Figment Mezcalita

Tajin (optional, for rim)

Ice

1 oz. fresh squeezed orange juice

2 oz. Figment Chile/Peach/Lime shrub mix

1.5 oz. Mezcal or Tequila

4 oz. Figment Orange Blossom kombucha

Orange Peel Garnish

Cut one orange in half and press glass into orange flesh and then Tajin to make a flavored rim. Add ice to glass, then all other ingredients. Stir lightly and add orange peel garnish to serve!

Raspberry Meyer Lemon Cosmo

Ice

2 oz. Figment Raspberry/Meyer Lemon Shrub mix

2 oz. Vodka

Combine vodka and shrub mix in a cocktail shaker. Fill shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously until outside of shaker is very cold, about 20 seconds. Strain cocktail through a strainer or a slotted spoon into a martini glass. Garnish with lemon twist.

Let's gather 'round the table and eat!
