Farm Happenings for June 3, 2020

Posted on May 30th, 2020 by Mike Finger

Hi, Friends:

We hope you enjoyed your first share, and if this week is your first delivery, we hope you'll be delighted as well.  The garden has really shifted into high gear, and is shedding its formerly sluggish pace of growth.  This week, we add three items: Kohlrabi, Kale, and Chard.  The tomatoes in our high tunnels are dark green and growing fast.  Just yesterday, we planted out the first wave of sweet peppers.  We've planted over 3 acres with at least another yet to fill up, which means we've created significant job security for ourselves weeding, irrigating, training, and eventually harvesting all this territory. Thanks to all of you for your patience as we all figure out the Harvie system.  We've received generally positive comments about the email notification and swapping process.  Scheduling has been a challenge for some, but we think we've worked out the kinks on that.  I want to thank our amazing crew of 5 women, Ashley, Lauren, Debbie, Arden, and Angela, who along with Matt, my long time assistant, and myself are putting in long and rewarding days bringing the harvest to you.  And thank you to all of our wonderful pick up site hosts, both at our private homes and workplaces, for loaning us their porches, meeting and lunch rooms, garages, and shaded overhangs so that you have convenient places to pick up your shares ~ we couldn't offer this farmer~ consumer connection without you. If you haven't yet done so, please complete your preferences on your Harvie member profile page.  Just log into your Harvie account and click the tab at the top of the page, "Preferences."  You can rate all the crops shown, or just the ones you really dislike and those you like enough to want to receive regularly.

If you have any problems with your share or Harvie account, please contact us.  We are never too busy to respond to any requests you might have.

Salads Away!
