Farm Happenings for October 8, 2019

Posted on October 4th, 2019 by Crystal Pacheco

Watching the Farm transition to fall crops has always been special to me. Cover crops go in where heavy feeders like tomatoes once grew and rows once over growing with peas have been cleared out. I love when the radishes come back and flavorful greens like turnips and mustards start to flourish.

How do you like to use these spicy fall items? Adding them to soups and stir-frys are always my go to.

Don't forget to take a peek at some of our seasonings and honey we have available. I am a huge fan of the Okra spice.  Here is a simple recipes I use with it:

  • pre-heat oven to 425*
  • half okra pods
  • toss in bowl with Okra spice seasoning and olive oil( or which ever you prefer)
  • lay out on a sheet pan
  • cook for about 15 mins stirring occasionally

Easy enough, right?

Also available this week is Hot pepper mix (great for chili), Green paprika, Powdered Ginger and so many others.

You can easily add these and other locally made food items to your share from the extra screen.
