Farm Happenings for July 28, 2020

Posted on July 26th, 2020 by Chad and Liz Shinn

Hello all,

Heads up this week.  Our lettuce mix has decided to take a few weeks off, sometimes you just can't predict its temperament when it comes to the heat.  This week you will see a green 'Gem' type lettuce as a replacement.  Also after our early season cucumber failure, the next planting is back on the list.  Limited to 1 this week but future weeks there will be plenty, as well as different varieties.

We are very fortunate that we have an amazing farming community! Often times we collaborate with other local farmers to bounce off ideas, go in on orders (potatoes, amendments, and supplies) to save on shipping and fuel, as well as offer each other supplements when things are low or crop failures happen. We feel it is important to keep our CSA varieties interesting. So, this week we have called upon our friends at Sunrise Organic Farm in North Albany to supplement our box. They are providing the little gem lettuce and their amazing sweet onions that are an option this week!

We are busy planting fall and winter crops currently. Seems strange when its going to be 100 degrees outside but that's just how farming works.

Everyone stay cool and we will see you Tues/Wed !
