Farm Happenings for March 19, 2020

Posted on March 17th, 2020 by Janet Aardema

Hello dear Farm Share members!

In times of heightened anxiety, gratitude is the best medicine for the brain. We are working hard to keep taking that medicine on a regular basis. We are so grateful for the opportunity to be farmers in our community.

We are doing our work - we are growing food for our community. This week is always the start of our busiest time of the year and we are taking our role very seriously right now - in our responsibility to grow food as well as our responsibility to grow and distribute it safely. We have added more disinfecting measures and increased the number of times per day our staff must wash their hands. We are monitoring the health of all of our staff members. We've lent staff members thermometers. Etc.

And suddenly more members of our community have found us and prioritized sourcing their food from us. THANK YOU for already committing to get your food from us. We have always felt deep love and gratitude for our Farm Share members, and this week that gratitude is running deeper than we knew it could. We are being sure to reserve harvest for you, our first priority.

For now, we haven't made any changes to our Farm Share pick up logistics. However, we anticipate needing to do so between now and pick up day. So, stay tuned! It's very likely we will have your shares in labeled bags instead of the usual boxes. We may have drive-by pick up! Community needs are changing every 12 hours or so right now and we are doing our best to be nimble and responsive.

For now, please enjoy your options. We are harvesting greens and radishes for you this week, plus we have some cabbages available. (They didn't grow as well as we'd like, but that's how farming goes sometimes.)

In health and with deep gratitude -

Janet & Dan and all the rest of the crew (Julie, Jessica, Caity, Ray, Mare, Rachel, Diana, Sylvie, and Joren)
