Farm Happenings for December 19, 2019

Posted on December 17th, 2019 by Janet Aardema

Happy Second Half of December! Things here on the farm continue to shift...we are putting energy toward cleaning, re-organizing, building and fixing things, and preparing for 2020 to make it even better than all the years before...while also seeding microgreens in the greenhouse, weeding crops in our hoophouses, harvesting vegetables for our Winter Share and farmers' markets, and enjoying more time as a family than we do during the warm season. See the photo above of our new "loading dock" which is really more like a platform to connect our walk-in cooler to our delivery van. Smoother van loading is now in our future! Small improvements like this are exciting for us, and impossible to get done during the warm season. We embrace chilly fingers this time of year because they are associated with a slower pace, an earlier bedtime, and generally less stress being carried in our shoulders. :)

Heads up as we look to January: We MAY need to reschedule the Jan 9th share for another week in the season (perhaps a week in April) depending on weather. We'll send an email to update you in early January.

Cooking greens and roots, plus our breads, continue to be great options for you this week. Enjoy!

With great appreciation for your trust in our farm!
