Farm Happenings for April 15, 2021

Posted on April 12th, 2021 by Janet Aardema

Amazingly, this is the final week of our "Winter" Farm Share season. We shortened it by two weeks this year (and adjusted the price down accordingly) so that we could avoid the very-slim-harvest time we've run into during the end of April of year's past. We're just about finished harvesting our over-wintered crops, yet most of the springtime planted crops aren't ready to harvest yet. This results in an unavoidable dip in harvests each year at this time. However, if we have harvests in the next two weeks that are too abundant for sales at our self-serve FarmStand at our farm and at our market booth @ St. Stephen's, we will offer vegetables (and plants) through the digital Harvie FarmStand. If you're not signed up to receive an email when the digital FarmStand is open for ordering, please sign up via this link. We'll stay in touch!

Thank you enormously for trusting us to grow food for you this wet winter and chilly early Spring! It's different every year and we so deeply appreciate our community choosing to eat what we grow.

For those of you joining us for the main season Farm Share (May through November), shares begin the second week of May. (That means half of the every-other-week shareholders get their first share the third week of may. Log in and click on "Deliveries" to be reminded of your exact schedule.) We'll have a reminder/hot tips email headed your way soon about that.

Thank you again for being with us through moments of celebrating and mourning. It feels wonderful to be connected with all of you. We truly would not farm if we weren't connected with the community members that we feed.

All the love from your farmers,

Janet, Dan, and the whole Broadfork crew (Julie, Karen, Rachel, Courtney, Maya, Nick, Parker, and the farm kids)
