Farm Happenings for August 28, 2020

Posted on August 26th, 2020 by Christina Houston

Good morning and Happy Wednesday! It's hard to believe it is the last week of August! Are you ready for pumpkin season?!

We have more sunflowers blooming around the school's campus and we even have some right across the street from our Honor Farm Stand. When you pick up your box, you may take pictures. If you want to pick your own, they're only $1 each.

We have lots of eggplant and broccoli featured in our boxes this week. We also have plenty of okra, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, carrots and several other items. Our zucchini is slowing down, yet our summer squash is still producing pretty good.

The farm is steady growing and preparing the greenhouses for the fall harvest. We hope to run a fall CSA program, so please stay alert to that if you are interested. We have been steady doing three markets over the summer. Penn Street Market ends next Thursday. If you haven't had a chance to see it, it really is a great experience to meet local farmers. We currently have Rodale Institute and Country Lane as our neighbors. There is also a table with home made items from the local county. That market is located on the Reading Parking Lot on Cherry St & 6th St. in downtown Reading from 10-2.

We also have our market every Tuesday, year round, at the St. Jo Hospital in Reading from 11-2 on 6th & Reed Street.

Please remember the pickup time for your box is after 2pm on Friday until Sunset. Thank you for being patient and loyal customers. Have a beautiful weekend!
