Farm Happenings Week 4

Yummy food ideas...  Put those broccoli spears on the grill till the edges char slightly and sprinkle with Himalayan salt or sautee them in a pan with butter lemon and green garlic or garlic scapes.  Homemade Ceasar salad with Romaine (mix in kale, spinach, or peas shoots too) with green garlic or garlic scapes- it's worth the effort and is kind of the perfect meal on a hot day (variations can accommodate vegetarian and vegan).  Pasta with Golden Fennel is my favorite fennel dish (from Local Flavors by Deborah Madison- find online) with lemon zest, garlic, and parmesan; the flavor is so unique and lovely (not like licorice).  Sautee sliced kohlrabi in butter until it turns golden brown, sprinkle with salt and eat out of the pan because it is so good (no need to cut out the core as often suggested, this kohlrabi is tender all the way through).  Lettuce wraps with the butter lettuce leaves- fill with hummus, cheese, olives, chopped radish or turnip and chopped fresh dill or cilantro.
