Planting the final planting of beans
Well, as predicted, it heated back up this week (and then some!). The okra, eggplant, and peppers really appreciated it. I'm sure the sweet corn up in Ashe County did as well! Lucky, because we get to eat it a second week in a row! The tomatoes are on their way out. Our late planting is getting hammered by crows (we think) despite all the fencing and scare tape that we put out there. We're cooling down again next week so I expect the eggplant to head out with a second cool down as well although there is a ton of fruit on it right now. We hope to have green beans for another round or two coming up. The planting that would be this week didn't make it. Kale and collards are starting to trickle back in for those of you who have been missing green things. Creeksong's late zephyr squash planting is going crazy so we get to eat zephyr again! Jeremiah's potatoes still seem to be holding on (at least the blue ones).
We've entered the last month of the main season shares already! We've been planting like crazy for fall/winter and do have a fall share option that runs up until Christmas, with no deliveries the week of Thanksgiving (so our crew can travel to be with their families who are not close to here).
Enjoy your harvest!
