Farm Happenings for October 3, 2023

Posted on September 28th, 2023 by Shiloh Avery

Welcome to the first fall/winter share! The orb weavers have begun to weave, their dew encrusted webs glisten in the low morning sunlight.  It's time to get back out the long johns and sweaters, and to begin the long process of deconstruction of the long term summer crops and the dissipation of the farmily.  We get down to the skeleton crew for the rest of the year, and we grow fewer things but it keeps that skeleton crew busy!  We're still harvesting some peppers, but the tomatoes came out today (they got hit with late blight and went down fast).  Eggplant is gone and the chiles are waning.  It's greens time, and winter squash from Three Rock Farm.

Since the picture of Wendell, Mallory's new pup who comes to the farm each day, didn't load last week and I didn't want you to miss out, here's a picture of him.
