Farm Happenings for October 19, 2021

Posted on October 14th, 2021 by Shiloh Avery

Summer has been determined to hold on, I'm still in transition with my box of winter clothes half unpacked with a lingering need for summer clothes.  It's the season of piles of clothes shed as the sun warms the valley.  Also, the "last chance" for summer crop hold-outs as we head into the greens of fall and winter.  I picked up sweet potatoes from my old friend Herbie of Cottle Organics this past weekend and they look great!  I'm still holding out hope for some winter squash--I can go back and get some acorn squash from my friend Herbie but the butternut that was supposed to be growing for us seems to have not manifested.  I'll keep looking though, since we didn't grow it ourselves thinking we had plenty available from another farmer.  Have a great week as we head into cooler "more seasonal" weather.
