Farm Happenings for November 10, 2020

Posted on November 5th, 2020 by Shiloh Avery

I write from the third day of waiting for our national election results, and I found this picture amusing.  However, we should all be proud to have participated in what is projected to be record breaking voter turn out!

Meanwhile here at Tumbling Shoals Farm, the sun is out, and we're continuing our normal seasonal activities of putting the farm to bed.  Of course, we'll still be harvesting right up until Thanksgiving, but we've begun our restoration and repair season (both for humans and for farm equipment).  I hear the Kelsey on the tractor, preparing the last of the spent fields for a winter cover crop, and Mallory with the brush cutter digging the deer fence out of the weeds so we can make the necessary repairs and get it working again.  Jason and I have been working on planning for next season so we can get out plant/seed orders in on time and be ready to roll as soon as the calendar turns it's page.  Oh yeah, and there's the flood repair just in case we thought we were going to run out of things to do:)

Anyway,  I hope you filled out the doodle poll I sent about picking up your final share the week of Thanksgiving.  We will decide when we are going to distribute sometime next week and let everyone know.  One thing is for sure: we are every day filled with gratitude for your support this season.  Because of you, we get to farm another season!!!  So a little pre-thanksgiving thanks.
