Farm Happenings for June 11, 2018

Posted on June 7th, 2018 by Sean Pilger

Greetings from Farmer Sean!

It's been such a strange spring for us with the weather.  Many of our crops, especially the strawberries, are about 2 weeks behind.  Other crops, like our arugula and bok choy, have already bolted (gone to seed) on the isolated hot days between the torrential downpours and unseasonably cool weather.  We are excited to begin picking strawberries this week (looks like the Strawberry Festival will be kicking off the beginning of strawberry season for us rather than the end, as it normally does).  Our first cucumber and squash plants, our potatoes, and our onion field are all looking good, so I am hopeful it will be more bountiful as the summer progresses.

Please remember to bring your own bags or baskets to pick up your share.

Please only take what is on your list, if you take an item that is not on your list, you are taking from a fellow member.  I know there is a little confusion and frustration with the new Harvie system, especially since different shares get different items.  Don't worry, it will all balance out over the course of the season.  Please take the time to login to your Harvie profile and set your preferences, which will help ensure you get more of the veggies you prefer and less of the the veggies you dislike.  You can also manage your pickups, by moving a pickup to a different day or location if you know you can't make it, to avoid missing a share.  We cannot accommodate last minute changes or missed pickups, so take advantage of Harvie's scheduling to arrange your schedule to what works best for you!

Thanks for all your patience, we are grateful for your support of our hard work, and hope you enjoy your fresh farm grown veggies!
