Fall is arriving

Posted on September 2nd, 2023 by Ashley Thompson

We're feeling whispers of fall on the farm.  Cool breezes, precipitation and dark mornings all bring us a feeling of relief from the summer grind.  Our crew feels refreshed by the reprieve from summer heat, and rejuvenated by removing old tired plantings and by beginning to harvest cool weather crops.  This week we bring you soft, supple green cabbage and fennel in addition to your favorite standbys.

Fresh green cabbage becomes my favorite this time of year.  It's leaves are so tender in the cool weather, not at all how I used to think of cabbage.  We've got a great recipe for you that uses cabbage and dill, both of which we have fresh from the farm this week on our farm website: Dilly Bean Stew, which actually doesn't have beans in it at all.

Another one of my favorites, if you aren't quite feeling soupy yet, is Cabbage Steaks with Bacon Gremolata.

We've also got bulk bags of carrots back, if you're looking to stock up, swap your 1lb carrots for a 5lb bag for a great price!

We hope you're enjoying the beginning of a new season,

Your Farmers,

Ashley, Caleb and the Sungrounded Crew
