Tomatoes are here!

Posted on June 19th, 2021 by Ashley Thompson

Summer has finally arrived on the farm, and the tomatoes are starting to flow.  Generally, it's hard to get tomatoes before late July in central Oregon, but we've been heating our tomato greenhouse to 60 degrees at night in order to extend the precious tomato season!  Type of tomatoes will be varied this first week, as we've only got a few varieties that are really producing yet.  We grow both red and orange slicers, as well as Pink and Striped Hybrid Heirlooms, and they're all delicious!  We also grow cherry tomatoes and will get them into boxes as soon as we have enough!

Also new in boxes this week is broccolini (YUM).  And we have for you, one more round of garlic scapes, which means garlic is coming soon.  The rest of your box is packed with salad goodies (like head lettuce and salad greens), cooking (or smoothie) greens, and roots (carrots and radishes this week).

Don't forget to check out your deliveries tab in Harvie if you have a Flex Share, so that you can reschedule any weeks you may be gone or not need a share to the last two weeks that will be empty until you reschedule!  And remember to check here as well if you've put a share on hold, don't forget to reschedule it if you'd like to receive it at a later date (Tip: you CAN get two shares in one week if you choose!)

All the best,

Ashley, Caleb and the Sungrounded Crew
