Pre-season shares available this Thursday - including select Twin Cities locations

Posted on May 18th, 2020 by Dana Jokela

Greetings,

We received a deluge of rain last weekend. Much needed moisture, but about 3" more than we wanted. Once the soil dries out later this week, we'll be planting like crazy. In the meantime, crops are growing and more are ready to harvest.

Our first delivery of Summer Shares is not until the second week of June,  but we are offering weekly one-time "Farm Stand" boxes that members can purchase over the next three weeks. These shares can be purchased by credit card on a week-by-week basis and are outside of Summer Share deliveries. Choose from a small ($20) or large ($35) size, depending on your preferences.

This week, we have more diversity and abundance for pop-up shares. This week, we will move deliveries to Thursday, with a signup/customization deadline of Tuesday at 9 pm. We have decided to make deliveries to the following pickup sites:

  • On-farm pickup
  • Ferndale Market
  • Northfield
  • Lakewinds - Richfield
  • Golden Fig - St. Paul
  • Black Dog Cafe - St. Paul

Please pay attention to the pickup window for your selected pickup site. The start time is affected by our delivery schedule, and the end time is affected by the pickup location's current hours.

The staff at most of our pickups wear masks and encourage customers to do so, as well. We ask that you respect this and wear a mask if you are able to. Please maintain distance from other customers picking up, and refrain from touching other people's boxes when possible.

We also want to remind you that shares are now packed into reusable, sanitizable plastic boxes, which are each lined with a new plastic bag for food safety and freshness. When you pick up your share, please:

  1. Look for the box with your name on it - you will see your selected share items listed on this label, as well.
  2. Do not take the plastic farm share boxes home with you; they must stay on-site. Bring a tote bag to transfer your produce into, or just carry it out in the plastic liner bag.
  3. Leave your box and lid in an orderly fashion. At many pickup sites, we plan to have a floor dolly staged by the shares with one empty box and one lid screwed down to it as an example for how to leave your boxes at the site. Just next your box and lid into those attached to the dolly. The pickup will store these on-site for us to pick up the following week.
  4. Take your plastic liner bag with you, as the pickup sites do not have systems to deal with them. We are not able to reuse them due to food safety concerns. These can be reused as trash bags or for other purposes at home.

We are excited to be back in the harvest season and offering these pre-season shares to you. We are still working out kinks with Harvie, so appreciate your patience and feedback as we navigate these first few shares.

Thank you!

Dana
