Farm Happenings for May 2, 2021

Posted on April 29th, 2021 by Rahul Anand

Welcome to the 2021 season! Thanks for supporting us this year! The fields are looking full and ready for the beginning of the CSA season so I hope y'all are ready for some delicious fruits and veggies!

On the farm we have been very concerned with the weather and also our irrigation capacity. We have made it through late frosts, hard rain, and even hail. We have tried to minimize the erosion caused by the spring weather over the years without much success (the entire farm is designated highly erodible land by the USDA). We have great news though! We got a call last week from our NRCS agent (Natural Resource Conservation Service, a part of the USDA) to tell us that we have been approved for help with the erosion. It will be an interesting multifaceted approach included rainwater catchment and land contouring all designed by NRCS engineers. In addition they approved us for a new well that should solve our irrigation problems. We will share the progress with you throughout the season!
