Week 13

Posted on August 8th, 2020 by Lynne Schultz

Greeting from the farms,

This week has been busy week on the farm. Josh has been moving dirt for the new barn. He has moved over 150 load of dirt to build the pad for the new barn that will be going up in a few weeks.

The fields are full harvest and are pumping out tons of product. We are just starting to pick a few winter squash. More will be coming over the next few weeks. A sign that season will soon be changing. The last summer crops will be planted this week( summer squash, zucchini, cucumbers, and green beans) and cross our fingers that we get a late frost. For sweet corn please note that on your order when your see sweet corn that is for one ear. So if you want more than one ear please change your order.

For your fruit share you will be getting a watermelon this week as well. It might seeded or seedless. Why do we grow seeded watermelon? We grow seeded watermelon because we have to have them to pollinate our seedless watermelon. When we plant we plant 3 seedless watermelon to every seeded watermelon. Also if you pick up at Keller the melons will be separate from the rest of your order so please make sure pick it up.

Winter CSA will open up on Wednesday. The winter CSA will run from Mid October until the week of Christmas. It is 10 weeks long.

We hope everyone has  safe and healthy week.
