Farm Happenings for August 15, 2020

Posted on August 11th, 2020 by Paula Reynolds

It's week 10 - the halfway point of the summer season. By now you've probably gotten into the groove of cooking and eating all your fresh produce, right?

A Farm Share member recently shared this article with us and we found it both humorous and relatable. It's called The 8 Stages of Trying to Eat Everything in my CSA Share

We hope that Harvie's customization features have helped you navigate some of these CSA pitfalls a little more easily. If you have any thoughts or feeling about how the season is going to far, or how Harvie is working out for you, we welcome the feedback. Our goal is always to improve our member experience. So feel free to share your thoughts so we can make improvements.

Update from the field...

We finally got a half-decent crop of cucumbers. The cucumber beetles have subsided slightly so we can finally enjoy some blemish-free cukes. The zucchini patch has slowed down significantly, so if you haven't had your fill yet, be sure to grab some this week. They may be the last of them. More beans are on their way soon. The next succession is flowering so it won't be long before we're picking again.

Vegetable storage tip of the week:

Drowning in cherry tomatoes? Throw them is a ziploc bag and pop them in freezer - no prep required. Then use them in the winter to make a flavourful pasta sauce. You won't regret it!

Happy eating!
