Farmers Helping Farmers

Posted on September 4th, 2020 by Pedro Aponte

Many of you know of Radell Schrock. He runs one of the most successful sustainable farms in the area, Season's Bounty Farm. His produce is astonishingly beautiful and delicious. Radell is a good old friend and I've always looked at him as an inspiration not only as a farmer but as a human being. I have learned many great farming tips from him. This year, as the demand for our produce has increased exponentially, I have resorted to Radell to provide some of the produce you have seen in your CSA boxes. There are some crops that for lack of planning, disease, or deer pressure, have not done well for us (most notably beets, potatoes, onions and squash). But we have continued to offer those crops thanks to Radell  from whom we have been able to purchase extra produce. We are grateful to Radell and Season's Bounty Farm for helping us continue to bring variety and top quality produce to your CSA boxes. So next time you are at the Harrisonburg Farmers Market, please take a minute to thank Radell for the wonderful produce he grows and for helping Saint Isidore Homestead keep the flow going in the face of shortage. Blessings from the homestead.
