Farm Happenings for March 4, 2023

Posted on February 28th, 2023 by Jesse Tysinger

Hello everyone!

I hope you have enjoyed the rain as much as we have this week, all our new greens are looking great! The past week has been one of bed building and rescuing pineapple. I have been out on the tractor opening up space in our larger fields to start new beds. It's always exciting creating new beds, and it is one of my favorite tasks on the farm. It is a fun challenge to build the beds themselves (especially because I like them as tall as I can get them) and a great opportunity to watch the space change as the plants grow up, and the soil becomes richer through our soil management. And of course the food it means we can grow!

The other major task has been clearing our pineapple fields to make sure the plants get the sun they need to make the sweetest fruit they can, it takes a lot of light to produce all that sugar! It's a prickly job, but we have been reminding ourselves that the best pineapples we've ever had are waiting for us on the other side and it becomes a lot easier.

Thanks everyone for your continued support!

Best,

Jesse
