Taste the Rainbow

Posted on January 18th, 2022 by Elizabeth Gallo

This week we have a lot of variety in the shares as many of the crops we planted a few months ago are starting to come in. Pictured above we have some rainbow chard that is beginning to grow more abundantly so we will start having more available in the boxes in the coming weeks. This stuff is great cooked or raw, I personally love it with just a little garlic, oil and salt. If greens are your thing we have quite the week for you. We have a limited quantity of baby asian greens the are just big enough to begin harvesting. We also have more kale this week than we have in the past few weeks and are trekking along with our bok choy, mustard greens and arugula. If you resolved for the new year to eat more greens, we've got you covered.

Aside from all of this green leafy stuff, we have some other exciting items to offer. Andy discovered the jackfruit that we've been eyeing up for months is just starting to ripen so that will be going in to the boxes in 2 pound slices. Jackfruit at this stage is great for salads, stewed vegetable mixes or just raw snacking. We have lots more bananas this week along with some eggfruit and carambola to satisfy your fruit cravings. Cause we all crave fruit not chocolate right...?

We hope everyone has a stellar week, we'll be busy planting next year's pineapples and building aggressive fencing around our fields to keep the deer out. If you are going to Leatherback to pick up your box this week, or if you find yourself nearby, make sure to try out their latest release, the soursop double IPA. It's a killer beer and soursop is green so maybe drinking this beer counts as consuming your greens? I try to be an optimist...

See you Saturday!
