Farm Happenings for August 31, 2023

Posted on August 28th, 2023 by Emily Hendrikx

Hello there,

Hope you are enjoying this lovely warm and sunny weather, excellent for the ripening of all the lovely fall veggies.  Walking through the brassica patch pictured, the nappa cabbage and broccoli will be along shortly, and some healthy leafy cauliflower and rutabaga a little longer yet.  A stroll through the squash and pumpkin patches are looking promising as well.  The whites, yellows, oranges and tans developing where the light greens and creams were before.  There is a nice number of varieties we have this year, with a nice crop of delicata, spaghetti and butternut, as well as a mixed variety that we grow called 'wild bunch' which is a mix of edible varieties with some wild shapes and colours.

We are excited to offer a nice selection of white pumpkins, mini pumpkins and gourds for your enjoyment this fall as well, so stay tuned for those too.

Other fall veggies coming soon are raddichio, celeriac, and brussels sprouts.
