Last Share of the Season - Reflecting and Looking Forward

Posted on November 3rd, 2023 by Lisa Duff

A Season of Reflection, New Beginnings, and Community

As we lovingly pack the final harvest of the season, we find ourselves reflecting on the year and looking forward to new adventures.

Our new Field Manager, Justin, is already hard at work planning exciting infrastructure projects for the winter. We're thrilled to announce the launch of our Winter Mini Season, and there's still time to sign up (they will be available again for signup starting 11/4)! A few slots remain for the first delivery on Nov 14th, so get ready to enjoy a taste of winter's bounty.

As we work to bring members to our 2024 seasons, we've had many discussions about the value of what we do and we think that the foundation is community. We don't grow food the easiest or most profitable way; we grow it in a way that makes us proud and we know that's why you're here too. It's about more than just groceries, nutrition, or sustainability, although it's certainly about all those things too.

The CSA model satisfies our human need for connection in our most fundamental of material needs: food. When we connect with the systems that nourish us, our natural demand for ethical, healthy, and sustainable systems awakens and is expressed.

We're truly proud to be on this journey with you, and we eagerly anticipate another year of growth and connection. Thank you. You are a cherished and integral part of Oak Spring Farm.

A Chili Recipe for Community and Leftover Veggies

In the spirit of community and the practical need to utilize those veggies in the back of your crisper drawer, we're sharing a heartwarming chili recipe. It's an end-of-season celebration where all the veggies are invited to the party. This hearty ensemble is not just a meal; it's a testament to your commitment to community-based farming. Your support makes this delicious gathering possible for you and hundreds of others in your community. Thank you for being a key ingredient in this beautiful recipe!
