Happy Fava's Day

Happy Fava's Day!

Not just for Dads, fava beans are here for the whole family.

WE are harvesting such an amazing abundance of flavors and colors this week.

Sugar snap peas, mini romaine head lettuce, kohlrabi, carrots, greenhouse cucumbers, all manner of summer squash, the first of the cherry tomatoes, lush basil..the farm is flourishing.

We are also seeing the first of the summer pests taking hold. Colorado potato beetles on the potato plants, striped cucumber beetles and squash bugs on the cucurbits, the white cabbage looper moths are fluttering about and harlequin beetles are showing themselves on the broccoli plants.

But this week we want you to think fava beans and garlic scapes! These seasonal treasures won't last long. The summer squash will be here for a while.

Check out what to do with fava beans here and why they're SO good for you...click here for the blog....
