Spring Share #3 April 5th, 2022

Posted on April 1st, 2022 by Lisa Duff

Hello Farm-ily!

I LOVE April! Don't you?

We are celebrating spring with daffodils, hyacinths, blossoms on the apricot trees and adorable baby chicks...the peeps will be here mid next week.

This week we're offering the first delicious lettuce salad mix and the first Hakurei turnips of spring.

We're harvesting more micro greens (aren't they delightful?), cilantro, spinach, pink beauty and French breakfast radishes, spring onions, arugula, spicy salad mix, chard and the last of the tunnel kale. Get kale this week if you love it -you won't see much the rest of this month.

The hens have been working hard through this last bit of cold weather and we have colorful, nutritious eggs on offer, too!

Join in on the Oak Spring FARMily Facebook page - a members-only group which enables us to share recipes, storage tips and fun information about the farm life.

We're about to do ROLE CALL!

Say hello if you're new.

Seasoned CSA members say Hello to the newbies.

Let's spark some good conversations as we all strive to up level our veggie game.

Check it out to find this week's recipe, How to Make Peppery, Nutritious Radish Greens Pesto. USE those beautiful radish greens!

STORAGE TIPs-OF-THE-WEEK -

Separate the greens from the roots when storing carrots, beets, radishes, turnips, etc., to maximize shelf life.

Pop your scallions in a cup of water in the fridge or store in a plastic bag or wet paper towel.
