Farm Happenings for November 23, 2021

Posted on November 19th, 2021 by Lisa Duff

Dearest Farm-ily,

With gratitude and appreciation we say Thank you for a great season! Check out the Extras page this week for Shaw apples for your Thanksgiving pie, extra potatoes in bulk, dried apples, Daily Crisis cheese & butter plus OSF Merch! Buy a ball cap or 'Go Veg' sweatshirt for a Christmas Gift.

The crew thanks those of you who sent tips their way already!! This is the last week to show your appreciation and personally thank this year’s crew!  Behind the scenes, this crew works hard, rain or shine, freezing or sweltering hot, to get this food harvested fresh and on time. They show up with hats and gloves, rain pants and jackets in March, as well as sun hats, tank tops, shorts and extra water bottles in July, plus everything in between. Interns and volunteers come and go but this season-long crew has persevered. They are all passionate about learning how to farm organically and sustainably. They work well together and are willing, even chipper and eager, to see what the days’ tasks bring. They’ve been exceptionally upbeat, positive and forward thinking. Many of the changes made from season to season come from the brainstorming of all and I appreciate a crew who inserts their own ideas for change to help us become more efficient and increase our flow.  If you feel compelled to show your appreciation to these up and coming young farmers, please consider tipping them for going above and beyond while working tirelessly to make the Oak Spring CSA the best CSA around. No contribution is too small as a way to say thank you for doing their part in the local food growing revolution! Just click on the link below, which will take you to Oak Spring's PayPal page. If you have any trouble, then copy & paste the link directly into your laptop or cellphone Internet browser. THANK YOU for acknowledging the crew's hard work! paypal.me/OakSpringFarm

Cheese share:  farmer's choice

Bread share: Simple Country Sourdough

Keep an eye out for that Farm Stand email in December. The Brussel sprouts are slowly maturing and we should have an amazing crop at some point along with radishes, salad mix, spicy mix, arugula, baby carrots, kale and chard all coming from the tunnel. There will be eggs, cheese, butter and storage crops like onions, potatoes and sweet potatoes too.

Be well, stay in touch and enjoy this Fall weather.
