Farm Happenings for June 16, 2020

Posted on June 12th, 2020 by Lisa Duff

Happy Friday!  What beautiful weather and what beautiful rain we had this week! We are growing a bounty of food here at Oak Spring. The Fava beans are coming in and looking gorgeous! You'll get a big 2# bag of Favas this week to make a special treat. Find your favorite recipe (or somebody's favorite recipe) these special beans are only here for a short time...

Next week the snap peas will be coming in and the shell peas after that.

This week you'll see the last of this crop of bok choi and kohlrabi. Don't worry more to come next month.

The cucumbers in the high tunnel have been hit hard with the cucumber beetles so they aren't the prettiest fruits but tasty. Field cucumbers have flowers on them so fingers crossed.

We lost our watermelons transplants to the heat last week but the cantaloupe look great! Don't worry we seeded more sugar baby watermelons the other day.

Thanks so much for eating your veggies!

We start at the Baltimore Farmer's Market/JFX this weekend. Come by and say hi, we'll be one of the first vendors you see when you come in the only entrance. Things will be different but we hope to see a lot of familiar faces.

Be Well, Stay positive and thanks for choosing local!
