Farm Happenings for July 9, 2019

Posted on July 4th, 2019 by Lisa Duff

Happy July!

Cat in the green bean patch! Cat (Catherine) worked for Oak Spring in 2017 as the resident intern and is back this year with renewed interest and enthusiasm for some higher management responsibilities. Cat is mostly a vegan who eats a few Oak Spring eggs here and there. She plays the piano, sings, practices yoga, is an avid cook and baker and visits the local swimming holes in addition to farming at Oak Spring.

We have been picking beautiful green beans this week again. We have harvested the first of the garlic and have beautiful fresh heads of garlic for you. There is Elephant garlic and German White hardneck.

It appears summer is here!  The tomatoes are starting to ripen and we finally have the cherry tomatoes coming in slowly but surely. The black raspberries are done for this season but we sometimes get a second flush in September.

It's hot and dry in Freeland. WE could use some rain. Seems to rain all around us.

Most of you are doing a great job bringing back your bags. Please leave the labels on so we can put the new sticker over the old on and know who is bringing their bags back!

Call your drop spot if you need an extra day to pick up your bag. Most places can put it in the fridge for you overnight.

If you need to change a pick up location or put a hold on your share use the Harvie website to update your share on line. Its pretty self explanatory but head to the help desk if you need it!

WE love when members post pictures of fun new recipes and cute family photos enjoying our produce-please share! Spread the local love!

Stay cool,

Cheers,

Lisa
