Farm Happenings for April 21, 2020

Posted on April 17th, 2020 by Lisa Duff

Happy Friday! Hope you are staying positive through this trying Covid time. We are busy getting as much food in the ground as we can -gearing up for a big season. We are also potting up hundreds of plants so if you are interested in buying plants for your home gardens check out the latest MailChimp newsletter (don't get the newsletter?  sign up for it at www.oakspring-farm.com). We are asking you to pick up here at the farm April 24th or May 2nd.

This week we will have Rosemary&Orange zest for the bread share. We are also offering fig & fennel as an extra purchase.

New this week for the vegetable shares Hakurei turnips!  These will be first harvest, young, tender, white, mild salad turnips great raw with dip, sliced in salads or steamed lightly tossed in butter and salt (my kids favorite way to eat them!) Eat the greens-they are lovely.

The French breakfast radishes are PERFECT this week. Tender, crisp and long like the French like them!  The greens are perfect for sautés or making radish top pesto. Google a recipe and whip up your radish greens into a healthy dip along side cheese, bread, hummus, olives YUM!

ON the 'Extras' side new this week are mild or spicy 100% grass-fed local meat sticks from our friends at Shady Spring farm (2 miles from Oak Spring!). They are a great treat cut up on an appetizer platter or snack on the go.

Have a great week everyone and thank you for your patronage. WE love to hear your positive messages via email, Facebook, Instagram etc. Thank you for putting your health in our hands. We are honored and will work to continually earn the privilege!
