On The Farm: Sarah's last week

This week, we say goodbye to Sarah. Although she still plans to be here on a volunteer basis, she is stepping down from her role as greenhouse manager and full timer farmer at Mulberry Moon. We have been extremely blessed to have Sarah at the farm, and she has gotten us through so much. We will miss her tenacity, organization, conscientious spirit and so much more. She's been with us since 2020! It'll be really different around here without her. But with all our hearts we are wishing her the best as she continues to find her path on this journey of life.

Reminder: RSVP Harvest Celebration Potluck on October 1st

Here is a link to our Paperless Post invite where you can see the details and RSVP. Please RSVP so we have a general idea of how many folks to expect. We're looking forward to sharing a chill afternoon together with some food and good company. Come for the tour at 11:30, or jump straight to the potluck at 12:30.

*NEW* at the farm store: organic grass fed beef!

Angela Wisnoski, a long time organic farmer in our area, has been raising organic grass fed beef for many years. We have purchased 1/8th of a cow to offer our customers. It's not available via Harvie but you can buy it in our farm store freezer. There's ground beef, some roasts, and some steaks. If it's popular, we'll continue to source more!

Veggie Highlights

We have lots of winter squash available from HOPE Ecofarms collective. Butternut, acorn, spaghetti, delicata, and kabocha/buttercrup (which is actually sweeter than butternut, I kid you not). Spaghetti and delicata have the shortest storage life so I recommend stocking up on those first if you are trying to choose.

On our end; we still have a few more tomatoes. Peppers are starting to slow down; enjoy them while they last! Our kids are eating peppers multiple times a day! We FINALLY say goodbye to zucchini and cucumber; wow, what a ride it's been! These crops were excellent this year, and they owe us no more. Leeks will be available soon. Our fall brassicas (turnips, radish, kohlrabi) are a bit late this year so look forward to them on the last week or in our fall share.

We have okra, shallots, and tomatillos available to swap into your shares - try it out! The tomatillos this year are SO sweet, I can't believe how good they are raw!

Hope you enjoy your veggies this week!

Thanks for keeping us growing.

Your farmer,

Kim
