Veggie Share - Week 18

Posted on October 7th, 2019 by Kim Barker

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

When I say I am grateful for the food we grow, I mean so much more than that. I mean that I'm grateful for the opportunity to be intimate with nature - to mark the change of the seasons by the sounds of spring peepers, then cicadas, then crickets, then bluejays and cardinals and flocks of geese flying overhead. I'm grateful to be surrounded by so much life, to be just one life amongst so many, to be part of something bigger. I'm grateful to be able to work with my family, to share special moments, celebrate triumphs, and work towards shared visions and goals. I'm grateful to raise our daughter here, amongst the trees and dirt and everything wild. I'm grateful for the soil, that has given us so much this year. I'm grateful for the people who have found us and supported us and, in doing so, told us - this is worthwhile, this is something important, keep going. I am grateful that our endeavor brings together people and nature in such a way that gives me hope for the future of our communities and our environment. That is what I mean when I say I am grateful for the food we grow.

Folks, we have a lot of produce! The fall has been very good to us. So, there are plenty of items available for swapping, I highly recommend you take a look because there might be something you'd like that is available but didn't get put in your share by Harvie. As always, you have til 10pm Tuesday to swap. We've got fall peas which we are SO excited about, and broccoli and cauliflower too! We've also got delicata, acorn, and butternut squash. Carrots and beets are back, and of course all the regular items we've been having recently, except our mixed greens. We hope you can make some good use of our food for your Thanksgiving meals this weekend!

Just a reminder that we have 2 weeks left after this week! The last pick up is October 24th/26th.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend celebrating Thanksgiving with friends and family, and sharing good food together.
