Farm happenings for Week of July 26th

Posted on July 23rd, 2021 by Kelly Morris

PICK UP HOURS: Pickup hours this week and every week are Thursday 3pm-7pm, Friday 11am-7pm and Saturday 9am-1pm. Despite what day you chose when signing up for your share, you are welcome to come during any of our open hours. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before closing to give yourself time to gather your veggies.

SAVE THE DATE for our FALL FUNDRAISERS: Our 25th Annual Golf Tournament and the Picnic in the Fields are happening this September! Golf Tourny info including registration can be found here and Picnic info, including ticket purchasing is here

FARM UPDATE: We're harvesting the first variety of potatoes this week. Red Pontiac is an all purpose potato that's good for boiling, baking or potato salad. We're also harvesting the first of the spaghetti squash! Cut in half, scoop out the seeds and bake until fork tender. Then the flesh can be scooped out of the skin and used as a delicious substitute for pasta!

Conrad's Tree Service continues to add to our mulch pile! We use these wood chips to keep the farm lane clean. We also incorporate them into our compost pile to provide a better carbon to nitrogen ratio and to enhance airflow within the pile. If you'd like some woodchips to use around your property, please take some! Bring your own trashcans or leaf bags or if you have a pickup, we'd be happy to load the bed up, just let us know when you're coming.

PYO FIELDS: We began clearing out the first succession of cherry tomatoes to make room for new tomato plants but there are still lots left on the vines. More and more hot peppers are ripening every week. And the flowers are blooming in full force! Give yourself some time this week to enjoy the PYO field. This is your space!

EXTRAS: This week we have eggs, mushrooms and bread available to purchase as one-time "extras".
