Farm Happenings for April 24, 2020

Posted on April 20th, 2020 by Hayshaker Farm Admin

We are starting to put some crops in the ground now that the weather and soil temperatures are warming up. Over 5000 feet of potatoes, and our first plantings of kale, chard, collards, spigariello, broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage went in the ground.

First offering of green garlic this week--these are extra cloves that we plant in October with the rest of the garlic, but pull early for a spring treat. Chop and use the whole plant, stem and leaves. It is milder than the cloves, so be generous with yourself :)

We hope to have rhubarb from Monteillet Fromagerie available next week. Coming soon from us are salad turnips seeded early this spring in the greenhouse. Further down the road, we'll have sugar snap peas and more salad mix and bunched greens. Thanks for shopping with us--we are so overwhelmed by all the support.
