Farm Happenings for April 21, 2020

Posted on April 18th, 2020 by Hayshaker Farm Admin

Hello everyone,

This week we offer a little less in greens but we have some new items--radishes and green garlic. We have limited supply--hope many of you can enjoy over the next few weeks as our quantities increase.

This past week, we planted potatoes and spread micronutrient soil amendments to better balance our soil. This next week we have our first large round of transplanting--kale, chard, lettuce, cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli, as well as cucumbers and zucchini in the high tunnel. We're potting up peppers and eggplant in the greenhouse, allowing them to get larger before we plant them in the field in about 4 weeks. We continue to plow under our overwintered cover crops like rye, vetch and clover, building soil with organic matter before we plant our cash crops. Spring is here, and our to do list keeps growing!

Thanks Richland for coming out to support. We hope you're enjoying all the food. Please let us know how we can make your shopping experience better and we'll do our best.

xoxo
