The Summer Growing Season and Summer Shares

Posted on July 9th, 2023 by Nathan Cross

Now that we have entered July and cool nights are long behind us, it is officially the summer growing season at Village Farm! The shift from spring to summer means that only the most heat tolerant crops can hold up through the deep summer months from late July to mid-September. Unfortunately, that means that tomatoes are gone, but we will have a variety of our summer staples such as okra, eggplant, long beans, melons, squashes, heat-tolerant cucumbers, peppers, summer greens, and a few specialty summer veggies that may be new to you!

For residents of Harvest Green, the summer season is a continuation of the year-round share we offer with free home delivery every week. For non-residents, the summer season is a new share that starts on Tuesday, August 1st and lasts for 9 weeks until the end of September. If you are currently receiving the spring share, your last delivery will be on July 25th and you will need to sign up for the summer share if you wish to continue receiving veggies from the farm. You sign up for the summer share through the following link: https://www.harvie.farm/farm/harvest-green-village-farm/signup.

Thank you for choosing to eat locally, and please reach out to harvestgreen@agmenity.com with any questions!
