Update from the Farm

Another week of news and updates around the Covid-19 pandemic is filling our feeds. We hope everyone is staying healthy, calm, and safe in the midst of all these changes.

In all honesty we have struggled to stay positive this last week. It has been a real challenge to integrate the closing of public schools, home schooling, the changes to public gatherings and public spaces that have closed most farmers markets, and the growing restrictions to travel and movement brought on by the response to Covid-19.

In our conversations with others we have heard many are struggling to stay mentally and emotionally healthy during this time of radical societal change. We just want to say we are right there with you. In our household we are trying to lean into our faith, community, and family. Together we can come through this as a stronger, more tightly knit community.

Keeping It “Covid Clean”

Our farm is following Alberta Health Services guidelines on keeping surfaces, hands, and equipment clean. We are making extensive use of 3% and 8% hydrogen peroxide, hand sanitizers, and hand washing protocols.

After each customer at our pick-up sites we are treating our bins, tables, and hands to a sterilization protocol.

So you can trust that products you receive from us are safe and healthy on the outside as well as on the inside.

Keeping It “2 Metres Safe”

We are taking social distancing seriously, and working hard to maintain a “2 Metres Safe” policy in all customer interactions.

To further this we are no longer offering pick-up locations and will move to home delivery.

From now until the end of April we will deliver to your door, free of charge for all subscribers. At the end of April we will reassess based on the current situation. We will no longer be doing pop-up markets or pick-up sites. We encourage our farmers market customers to sign up for a subscription or to join YYC Growers.

We will be rolling out our delivery maps this week for which neighbourhoods we will service.

We Need Your Help

Some of you may have seen the open letter Marcus wrote around the economic issues facing local food systems during the pandemic. If you have not you can find it here.

What we need is for our customers to help spread the word on how safe and important local food systems are. How we are an essential service during times of disaster and challenge like these. If you could take some time to contact your MLA, city councillor, and friends about keeping local food going during the pandemic it would do our hearts, and business, a great service.

Later in the week we will be emailing out some tools to help you easily spread the word.

Stay safe, get outside, keep 2 meters from each other (remember, jazz hands instead of shake hands), and keep it clean.
