Farm Happenings for April 16, 2019

Posted on April 11th, 2019 by Brad Gritt

Happy First Week of the 2019 Spring CSA Season! With some actual good spring weather this year, we have been able to get a lot more planted outside already than we had at this point last year so crops will be coming in earlier than years past. This weeks share will feature items from our hydroponic production including lettuce, cucumbers, and green tomatoes (we are hoping to start seeing some red by the end of the week), and spinach, arugula, radishes, and green onions from the high tunnel. We are starting the season off with a sweet treat of Strawberry ice cream as well as some basil plants for you to grow some of your own herbs.

The farm is already been bustling with activity this year starting with the annual Winter Blues Farmers Market in February, Mixed Container workshop the end of March, and our first Farm to Table dinner the first week of April. We have moved into Capitol Market earlier than we have been able the past two years as well.

This Saturday we are hosting our Second Annual Adult Easter Egg Hunt. We have sold 200 tickets to this event meaning we will be donating $1,000 dollars to the Ronald McDonald House in Charleston as we are donating $5 of each ticket to the house.

We hope you enjoy your first share of the season and we look forward to seeing everyone this week.

Your Farmer,

Brad Gritt
