Farm Happenings for December 20, 2019

Posted on December 13th, 2019 by Sarah Rider

Winter Share Week 3!

This time of year we typically see a crop or two leave the harvest list each week. You'll see that a few crops (cabbage, brussels sprouts) have disappeared for winter hibernation -- don't worry, they'll be back next year! There's an incredible amount of food still coming out of the high tunnels and caterpillar tunnels in the field. 'High tunnels' are what we call the large, permanent structures covered in plastic that we grow in throughout the winter. On sunny winter days, they are the ideal place to be on the farm! 'Caterpillar tunnels' are the small, temporary houses covering beds in the field. The caterpillar tunnels are great for extending the life of a bed of fall greens, and keeping crops like spinach and carrots free from snow and ice.

Important: There will be NO CSA pick up, or order delivery, the weekend of December 27-29. We'll send out another email next week as a reminder!

Wild for Salmon will be at the farm on Saturday, December 21st with PRE-ORDERS ONLY. Head over to the WFS website to place an order, and come to the farm between 10 and noon to pick it up!
