Farm Happening for Sept 27th

Posted on September 27th, 2021 by Lyndsay Jacobs

News:

It’s fall y’all! Last week we celebrated the fall equinox. On the equinox most places experience 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours darkness. After the Equinox we enter into Fall where days become shorter than nights. Last week we also had the full Harvest Moon. It’s no coincidence that the moon is named this, and the Harvest Moon is said to provide extra light for farmers to finish up their harvests before the frost sets in.

It’s no doubt that this time of year is one of the most bountiful! We are still basking in the harvest of summer veggies, while shifting towards storage and cooler weather crops.  With the rain, shorter days, and chilly weather things are beginning to shift at the farm. We only have another month or so of the CSA season and then we will lay the farm to rest for winter.

*If you haven’t already signed up for our Cornucopia Share, it’s not too late!! This is a one time share and will have lots of your favorite storage crops such as, potatoes, squash, garlic, herbs, winter greens and some other goodies!

We still have tomato 2nds and salsa boxes available. Tomatoes won't be here for much longer, so get them while you still can!

Kitchen Notes:

No one wants to use their oven during the summer months, but with the cooler weather it's a great time for roasted veggies, casseroles, soups, and baked goods.

Here's some recipes to try out:

Vegan Potato Soup

Vegan Green Bean Casserole

24 Plant based apple recipes
