Farm Happenings for September 21

Posted on September 22nd, 2020 by Kelly Peters

Greetings and salutations!

It finally rained! The smoke is gone, but the tomatoes have erupted. I guess rain, like many things is a double edged sword. With more rain on the way we are hustling to harvest all the crops prone to cracking, bursting or spoiling such as: dry beans, winter squash, melons and sweet peppers to name a few.

While the rains were the nail in the coffin for the already suffering cucumbers and summer squash, we will be getting root crops, cauliflower and lettuce in exchange. Gee, ain't life grand?!

Make sure to keep an eye out for new veggies this week like green(unripe tomatoes), great for frying and in chutneys. Come visit us at the farm stand on Friday afternoon or at the Vancouver Farmers Market for unique add-ons and limited quantity items...we like to think of them as secret menu items.

Stay Sweet,

Kelly and Patrick
