Farm Happenings for July 9, 2020

Posted on July 6th, 2020 by Kelly Peters

We're partnering with MoMo Flower Farm from Ridgefield, WA to offer fresh cut, organically grown flower bouquets!  You can now get a weekly or bi-weekly flower share by signing up at

  https://www.harvie.farm/signup/flat-tack-farm

To get a flower share delivered with your regular veggie share: Click on the "Choose Add-On" option and select the flower share.  The share is $25/ week and starts this week until end of September.  Help support small business and locally grown!  Check out Mo's website here: https://www.momoflowerfarm.com/flowerfarm

More about Mo's farm: "Located in beautiful Southwest Washington, MoMo focuses on providing local and seasonal flowers to the Portland, Oregon metro area. We grow hundreds of flower varieties in a diverse, integrated farmscape that includes vegetables and fruit for our family. We grow using organic and sustainable practices that enrich our soils, provide habitat for critters, and keep our water clean."

We will also be offering flower bouquets as an add on item so you can get a one time delivery. But, please reserve your share add on if you'd like to get them regularly for the season as there are limited quantities available.

Other farm happenings:  The cucumbers are starting to produce and we've got lots of summer squash available this week!  We grow quite few different cucumbers, ranging from regular to pickling.  A few that you might see in this weeks share are the standard "marketmore" green cucumber, the thin skin Lebanese varieties that are seedless, lemon cucumbers that are round and have a delicious citrus like flavor and the Richmond Apple Cucumber-an Australian Heirloom that looks similar to the Lemon cucumber but is striped green in color.  We are also growing a late cucumber variety called the Painted Serpent that is long and skinny, winding like a snake and extremely delicious!  You'll see this one later in the season.  Many of our pickling cucumbers that you might receive are great for fresh eating as well!  They are usually smaller in size with some small "spines" that can easily be rubbed off if you want to eat them fresh.

We are doing a garlic harvest and braiding workshop this Saturday from 1-4 pm.  RSVP to reserve a spot by Thursday evening.  Tickets are $30 and you can take a braid home!
