D&V Organics 2022 CSA Week 24

D&V Organics CSA

Week 24

Even though the CSA has been running since the middle of May, it feels like the season has passed quickly.  For many of our CSA members, this will be the final week.  We will be harvesting produce for the next several weeks, specifically through Thanksgiving, so if you need to reschedule any shares or have rescheduled shares beyond this week, we will continue to process your boxes.

Reflecting over the past several months of growing produce for our 2022 season, most things went according to plan without too many challenges.  The weather was mostly cooperative this season, which tends to be one of the more difficult variables to manage.  In more recent years, we've refined some of the diversity in produce we grow to mitigate an ever changing labor challenge and to increase the farm's profitability.  Some produce items require excessive amounts of labor, resulting in a lower profit margin, and over the years it has become apparent that even though we enjoy eating the fruits of our labor, maintaining an excessive diversity of vegetables in our farming practice isn't always economically sustainable for us.  Finding a balance is such an important part of our farming process.  We will continue to explore growing new and interesting crops in the coming seasons, the creative process and excitement for 2023 is already beginning.

We can't thank our CSA members enough for entrusting us with the task of growing produce for your consumption this season.  Your purchase of a share before the beginning of our season provides a much needed influx of money, allowing us a smooth start in securing seeds and supplies for the year.  We hope that everyone has enjoyed the produce this year and that you'll join again in 2023.

Enjoy,

Derek and Crew
